Terms and Conditions of Use
Version 1.1 · Effective October 30, 2026 · Website/App: parkaidparking.ca. Questions: support@parkaidparking.ca
ParkAid is coming soon — these are the Terms that will govern the Platform when it opens. They are published now so drivers and hosts can read them in full before launch.
1. What ParkAid is — and is not
1.1 ParkAid is an online marketplace that connects people who have a parking spot to rent out ("Hosts") with people who want to rent one ("Drivers").
1.2 ParkAid is not a parking company, landlord, property manager, or agent of any Host or Driver. ParkAid does not own, operate, inspect, or control any parking spot listed on the Platform.
1.3 Any rental agreement created through a booking is between the Host and the Driver only. ParkAid is not a party to that agreement.
2. Accounts and eligibility
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into contracts to use ParkAid.
2.2 You are responsible for the accuracy of the information in your account and for all activity under it. Keep your login credentials private.
2.3 You agree to these Terms by creating an account (including by checking the "I agree" box at sign-up) and again each time you list or book a spot.
3. Host terms — listing a spot
3.1 Right to rent. By listing a spot, you confirm that you own the spot or have the legal right and all permissions needed to rent it out — including, where applicable, permission from your landlord, condominium corporation or condo board, homeowners' association, and any other authority. If you are not permitted to rent the spot out, do not list it.
3.2 Accuracy. Your listing must describe the spot honestly and accurately, including its location, size and vehicle limits, availability, and how a Driver gets in (access method).
3.3 Condition and safety. You are responsible for the condition and safety of your spot and its access routes (including keeping them reasonably clear and usable). ParkAid does not inspect any spot.
3.4 Laws and rules. You are responsible for complying with all laws, bylaws, and rules that apply to you and your property, including municipal parking bylaws and condo rules.
3.5 Your own insurance. Renting out a spot can affect your home, condo, or property insurance. You are responsible for telling your own insurer that you are renting out your spot and for making sure your own coverage stays in place. ParkAid does not provide insurance for your spot, your property, or Drivers' vehicles.
3.6 Access details stay private. Access codes, fob arrangements, and similar details are shared with a Driver only after a booking is confirmed, and only for that booking.
4. Driver terms — booking and using a spot
4.1 Use only as booked. Park only the vehicle described in your booking, only in the spot booked, and only during the booked times. Leave the spot clean and on time.
4.2 Follow the access instructions and any reasonable rules the Host sets out in the listing, and do not share access codes or fobs with anyone else.
4.3 Your vehicle, your insurance. ParkAid does not insure your vehicle or anything in it. Damage to, or theft of, your vehicle or its contents while parked is covered (if at all) by your own automobile insurance, not by ParkAid. Park at your own risk.
4.4 Care of the spot. You are responsible for any damage you or your passengers cause to the spot or the Host's property, and for any costs that result from you overstaying, parking in the wrong place, or misusing access credentials.
4.5 Overstays — automatic hourly charges, no exceptions. Your booking ends at the booked end time. If your vehicle remains in the spot past that time, overstay charges apply automatically: the extra time is charged at the listing's hourly rate (rounded up to the next full hour), with no exceptions and no grace period, and the charge is made automatically to the payment card you have on file with ParkAid. You are also responsible for any reasonable costs your overstay causes the Host (for example, a later booking that cannot be honoured).
4.6 Declined payment — towing at the owner's expense. If an overstay charge (or any other amount you owe under these Terms) cannot be collected because your card payment is declined, refused, or reversed, the Host or ParkAid may have your vehicle towed from the spot at your sole expense as the vehicle owner, to the fullest extent permitted by law. You remain fully liable for all overstay charges and costs whether or not the vehicle is towed, and towing does not cancel or reduce any amount owing.
4.7 Access — codes, fobs, and meeting the Host. Some spots need more than pulling in. Every listing states its access method, and once your booking is confirmed, the access details are shared with you privately — never publicly. The rules are clear and direct:
• Access code: the Host will provide the correct code before your booked start time. Keep it to yourself — do not share it with anyone. It is valid only for your booking and stops working when your booking ends.
• Fob or key handoff: you and the Host will agree on a specific handoff time and place. Be there on time. You are responsible for the fob or key while it is with you: return it at the end of your booking (or exactly as arranged), and if it is lost or not returned, its replacement cost will be charged to the card you have on file.
• Host meets you: be at the spot at your booked start time. Arriving more than 15 minutes late without notice may be treated as a no-show for access purposes — your booking still ends at its booked end time and is not extended.
• If access fails: if the Host does not provide the promised code, fob, key, or meet-up, and the problem cannot be fixed promptly, it is treated as a Host cancellation — you receive a full refund under section 5.
5. Bookings, payments, and fees
5.1 A booking is a request until the Host confirms it. Once confirmed, it is a binding agreement between the Host and the Driver under these Terms.
5.2 Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider (Stripe). By booking or listing, you also agree to the payment provider's terms.
5.3 Service fee. ParkAid charges a service fee of 14% on bookings, which is how the Platform is funded. The fee is shown in the price breakdown before a booking is confirmed.
5.4 Hosts are paid out through the payment provider after a completed booking, less the service fee and any applicable charges.
5.5 How cancellations work. A cancellation takes effect when it is submitted through the Platform and shown as cancelled in the Driver's or Host's account. All cancellation deadlines are based on the parking spot's local time and the scheduled start time of the booking.
5.6 Cancelling a pending request. If a Host has not yet confirmed a booking request, the Driver may withdraw it at any time for a full refund of any amount already paid.
5.7 Driver cancellations of confirmed bookings.
• 24 hours or more before the start time: full refund of the amount paid.
• 4 to 24 hours before the start time: refund of 50% of the amount paid.
• Less than 4 hours before the start time, after the booking has started, or if the Driver does not show up: no refund.
5.8 A late arrival does not extend the booking's end time, and no refund is given for unused time after a booking has started, except under section 5.10.
5.9 Host cancellations. A Host who must cancel should do so through the Platform as early as possible. The Driver receives a full refund of the amount paid, regardless of when the Host cancels, and the Host receives no payout for the cancelled booking. Repeated or last-minute Host cancellations may result in listing removal or account restrictions under section 12.
5.10 If the spot is unavailable or not as described. If the Driver arrives and the spot is occupied, inaccessible, unsafe, or materially different from the listing, the Driver should contact the Host immediately and notify ParkAid as soon as reasonably possible. If the problem cannot be resolved promptly, the booking is treated as a Host cancellation and the Driver receives a full refund. ParkAid is not responsible for the cost of alternate parking unless ParkAid agrees to reimburse it in writing in advance.
5.11 Cancellations by ParkAid. ParkAid may cancel a booking for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, a clear listing or pricing error, or a breach of these Terms. If the cancellation is not caused by the Driver's or Host's breach, the Driver receives a full refund and the Host receives no payout. If it is caused by a user's breach, any refund or payout will be determined under these Terms and applicable law.
5.12 Emergencies and government orders. If a government order or genuine emergency directly prevents a spot from being used, ParkAid may review the booking and issue a refund outside the standard windows. Cancellation of an event the Driver planned to attend does not, by itself, entitle the Driver to a refund outside section 5.7.
5.13 Booking changes. Changes to dates, times, vehicles, or spots are not guaranteed. A change may require the original booking to be cancelled and a new booking made at the rates and terms then available. The cancellation rules for the original booking still apply unless ParkAid confirms otherwise in the Platform.
5.14 Multi-day bookings. For a booking covering more than one day, the cancellation deadlines are based on the scheduled start of the entire booking. Once the booking has started, unused days are not refundable except under section 5.10.
5.15 Refund timing and method. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method where possible. ParkAid will initiate an approved refund promptly after the cancellation is processed; the time for it to appear may vary by payment provider and financial institution and commonly takes 5 to 10 business days. If a refund becomes payable after a Host payout has been made, the payout may be adjusted or recovered.
5.16 Prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your own use of the Platform.
6. Assumption of risk
6.1 Listing and renting private parking spots involves risks that ParkAid cannot control — including the condition of a spot, the behaviour of other users, and events at or near a spot. By using the Platform, you accept those risks as your own, as between you and ParkAid.
6.2 ParkAid does not guarantee that any listing is accurate, that any spot will be available or suitable, or that any user will perform their obligations. Verify what matters to you before you rely on it.
7. Limitation of liability
7.1 To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of Alberta and Canada, ParkAid is not liable for: damage to or theft of any vehicle or property; personal injury; losses arising from a listing, a spot, a booking, or another user's acts or omissions; or indirect or consequential losses (such as lost income, missed events, or towing costs) arising from use of the Platform.
7.2 The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
7.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under Alberta or Canadian law.
7.4 If, despite the above, ParkAid is found liable for any claim, ParkAid's total liability is limited to the service fees ParkAid received in connection with the booking (or bookings) giving rise to the claim.
8. Indemnification
8.1 You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ParkAid, its owners, and its personnel from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs that arise from: your listing or use of a spot; your breach of these Terms; your violation of any law, bylaw, or condo/landlord rule; or damage or injury connected to your spot, your vehicle, or your use of the Platform.
9. Reviews and content
9.1 Reviews must be honest and about a real booking. ParkAid may remove content that is false, abusive, illegal, or in breach of these Terms.
9.2 Content you post (photos, descriptions, reviews) remains yours, but you give ParkAid permission to display it on the Platform to operate and promote the service.
10. Prohibited uses
You may not: list a spot you have no right to rent; use the Platform for anything illegal; misrepresent a spot, a vehicle, or yourself; harass or endanger another user; copy or scrape the Platform; or use a spot for anything other than parking the booked vehicle (no storage, repairs, camping, or overnight stays in a vehicle unless the Host expressly agrees in writing).
11. Disputes between users
11.1 Hosts and Drivers are responsible for resolving their own disputes. ParkAid may, at its discretion, help the parties communicate, but ParkAid is not obligated to mediate, decide, or pay for any dispute between users.
11.2 Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under Alberta consumer-protection law.
12. Suspension and termination
ParkAid may suspend or close any account, remove any listing, or cancel any booking where these Terms are breached, where required by law, or where necessary to protect users or the Platform.
13. Privacy
ParkAid collects and uses personal information as described in the ParkAid Privacy Policy [to be published before launch]. Location and contact details are shared between a Host and a Driver only as needed to complete a confirmed booking.
14. Changes to these Terms
ParkAid may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will be posted on the Platform, and continued use after an update means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes will be announced on the Platform or by email.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute relating to ParkAid or the Platform will be brought in the courts of Alberta.
